At some stage, you may well have used a Closed Gate Fold leaflet, but do you know what one is?
A closed gate fold is usually a three fold, or four panel, where the two outside panels fold inward to meet in the center. It is a popular choice for leaflets, guides, menus and even magazines have incorporated a gate fold for advertising or promotions. They're more common than you think.
We've captured this short video of our machines at work creating a closed gate fold for one of our customers.
The machine starts by folding the pre-trimmed leaflet in half, ready for the closed gate fold to be applied. Once done, we quality check them, before being boxed and ready to ship. The process only takes a matter of seconds for one leaflet but given our runs are in the 10s of thousands, it takes a little longer for a full run to be completed. However, the end result is always impressive and this is a popular way of presenting information as it allows for large amounts of information to be presented in a convenient, portable fashion.
Next time you head to an attraction or amusement park, you may well pick up a visitor guide - there's a good chance that it will be folded using a closed gate fold!
We have other videos of our machines at work, all can be found over at our YouTube channel, or featured in our other blog posts.
