We are often asked about the process our products take from when they are received, to when they are completed and sent to the customer. The truth is, every product is different and has their own specific requirements - that is what makes our world so diverse and interesting.
We recently had the opportunity to capture the journey of a booklet our client required. This goes through several stages to become the finished article, but this process happens in less than a minute - meaning large runs of items are no problem to us.
In the video above, the process begins with the sections being gathered to ensure all the elements are aligned correctly. The gathered elements are then stitched together as a regular fold stitch, then the collated elements are trimmed to the required size.
The document we are providing is A3, but this specific item will need to be mailed out, so we will be using a process called 'endorse folding' to bring it down to A4. If you have ever received a half-folded newspaper through your letterbox, then you will be very familiar with this process as it is exactly the same - this is just done at our premises as opposed to at the point of being placed in your letterbox.
Endorse Folding can actually help you save money on mailing costs: Whilst it will make no difference in the weight tariffs the letter size will change, so if you are concerned about postage costs, this may be a cost-effective addition to your printed materials.
We are looking to produce more videos showing the printing and finishing process as it is a fascinating and informative way of showing the services that we provide at Sussex Print Finishers, so if you have any suggestions on what you would like to see then get in touch with us and let us know - either email us or speak to us on the phone about your finishing requirements.
